Ughegbe \ Mirror is an exhibition of new sculpture and drawings by polymedia artist Eto Otitigbe.
For this exhibition Otitigbe interweaves Afrofuturism, architecture, technology, science fiction, and organic materials to create works that speculate on our present relationship with the natural environment. "Ughegbe" is the word for mirror in Uhrobo, the West African language of Otitigbe's cultural heritage. An award-winning artist and curator, Otitigbe has had work and curatorial projects featured in public spaces,…Since 1969 a Sculptor-in-Residence who works in the figurative tradition creates art on site and interacts with visitors through workshops, lectures and open studio hours, at the Saint-Gaudens National Historical Park. Based in the Ravine Studio, this artist also leads regular workshops ranging from clay modeling and mold making to landscape painting in-person and online.
* Each Workshop is limited to 10 participants at this time. Saint Gaudens NHP will provide tools and materials for all in person classes. Additional supplies will be advised by the instructor in an email following sign up and registration. Materials will not be provided for virtual classes.
