In this workshop participants will create a “mask” self-portrait using a mirror and photos taken in advance with a fun or extreme facial expression. The instruction will center around the anatomy of the facial structures, methods of blocking in, sculpting primary forms, secondary forms, and details in a portrait. Emphasis will be on creating a unique and highly individual portrait sculpture. The workshop will consist of a short talk on the topic, a demonstration, and a constructive critique session involving the entire class.
Materials and tools will be provided. Participants may bring their own tools if preferred.
