Strategic Vision · 2026–2029

Where Monumental Moments Begin

We envision the Saint-Gaudens Memorial recognized across the nation as a champion of the creative arts — by deepening our partnership with the National Park Service at the Cornish home, studios, and gardens of Augustus Saint-Gaudens, and welcoming new generations of artists and audiences to Saint-Gaudens National Historical Park.

Our Mission

The Saint-Gaudens Memorial promotes the life and work of sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens (1848–1907), champions the creative arts and artists, past and present, and partners with the Saint-Gaudens National Historical Park in Cornish, New Hampshire, to enrich its cultural offerings and natural setting.

Our Strategic Direction

Five commitments for our next chapter

Our plan for 2026 through 2029 rests on five enduring commitments — carrying forward sustaining the spirit of creative excellence and stewardship with which our organization was founded in 1919.

I

Champion the Creative Arts

We carry forward Augustus Saint-Gaudens’s devotion to mentoring artists — supporting and growing our Fellowship, our exhibitions in the Picture Gallery, and our summer concerts in the Little Studio as a living tradition of creative excellence.

II

Deepen the National Park Partnership

Evolving our ongoing role as original site stewards into an active philanthropic partnership with Saint-Gaudens National Historical Park, we amplify the work of the National Park Service in Cornish by helping to care for the home, studios, and art collection, and raising the national visibility of Saint-Gaudens’s legacy at New Hampshire’s only national park.

III

Engage Audiences Across the Nation and Our Region

We build genuine, lasting relationships with visitors, art enthusiasts, and supporters nationwide while strengthening our deep roots in Cornish and the Upper Valley — expanding our geographic reach, fostering regional ties, and inviting stewards everywhere to connect with this remarkable place.

IV

Secure Our Future

Building on the endowment our founders established a century ago, we are creating a broad-based and resilient foundation of support, so that the Saint-Gaudens Memorial will advance its mission with excellence and impact for generations to come.

V

Strengthen Our Governance

A committed and engaged board of trustees guides the Saint-Gaudens Memorial as a model of nonprofit stewardship — accountable to our mission, our park partner, and the communities we serve.

Our Next Chapter

Building for our next century

Since 1919, the Saint-Gaudens Memorial has preserved the legacy of one of this country’s greatest sculptors at his home, studios, and gardens in Cornish, New Hampshire. As we approach our 110th anniversary, we enter an exciting new chapter guided by Saint-Gaudens @ 110, our strategic plan through 2030.

A national park doesn’t just tell us where America has been; it inspires where we go next. As the philanthropic partner to Saint-Gaudens National Historical Park, our mission is to build that bridge between eras. By preserving these collections, presenting vibrant exhibitions and concerts, and welcoming the public into Saint-Gaudens’s world, we ensure that this special place continues to ignite the American creative imagination for generations to come.
